Fulbright Scholar in Residence Delivers a Lecture on Religious Minorites in the ME

Simon Najm

Our Fulbright Scholar in Residence, Dr. Simon Najm, delivered a lecture at the Globe in Spring 2023. Dr. Najm's talk was titled "The divine Light and Mystical Union: A crossroad between Christianity and Islam, the Experience of Saint Symeon the New Theologian and Mansur Al-Hallaj." 

Dr. Najm was a Fulbright Scholar in Residence for the academic year 2022-2023. He taught courses on Arab Culture and Middle Eastern and North African minorities at the department of Religion and the Middle East Center at the department of Modern Languages and Linguistics. Dr. Najm is a senior lecturer with the St. John of Damascus Institute of Theology at the University of Balamand in Lebanon. His research interests lie in the areas of Levantine History, MENA Minorities, Eastern Christianity, and Orthodox spirituality.
